On European Support for the Palestinians
Roger L. Simon notes that the EU has doubled its financial support for the Palestinian Authority, and at the worst possible time. (As Roger notes: that's like finding out that your child has a substance-abuse problem, and responding by increasing his allowance.)
More interestingly, Roger links to an article by Ron Rosenbaum, in an attempt to understand why -- why the Europeans seem fixated on throwing money, hand over fist, at the Palestinians.
Personally, I'm more than willing to attribute it to simple naiveté. The Palestinians finally have Gaza to themselves, and are struggling to set up an autonomous government there. Here, have some money, maybe it'll help.
Roger, however -- and Mr. Rosenbaum -- hint at darker motivations. Read the whole thing.
